MIDDLE SCHOOL WORLD HISTORY (6th-8th) - Tim Shaw

Learn the history of the world from the earliest writing and archaeology down to the present day. Understand the overarching themes of human civilization, and learn to tell the interconnected story of how we got from there to here. Special attention will be given to changes in historical method and worldview, how this produces multiple interpretations of the same history, and how this impacts our view of God and His church.

Students will complete Charlene Notgrass's From Adam to Us curriculum, which provides a high level overview of world history and geography. Weekly assignments and quizzes are in the From Adam to Us Student Workbook. Four quarterly writing projects of one to two pages will be assigned.

Learn the history of the world from the earliest writing and archaeology down to the present day. Understand the overarching themes of human civilization, and learn to tell the interconnected story of how we got from there to here. Students will read BJU Press's World History 6th Edition and write 300-500 word response essays. Essays should narrate back one aspect of what the student learned in this week's reading or lecture. Six weeks of this class do not correspond to units in the textbook, and students will be expected to find reading-level appropriate material from the library with guidance from the teacher.
